What are "alpargatas" shoes? Where do they come from?
Alpargatas (slip-on espadrilles flats) are the most traditional and famous casual shoe in Argentina. We are originally from there and grew up around them. The ancestry of the shoe goes way back to Egyptian times, but the shoe we recognize today as the alpargata was introduced to Argentina by Basque immigrants in the 19th century. If you want to know more about it, check out the history of the alpargata and our story.

We recommend ordering half a size smaller than you normally wear in a casual or dress shoe. If you're typically in-between sizes, we recommend going with the smaller one since A&A will stretch slightly as you break them in.
They should feel very snug at first. You want them to be tight enough so that they do not slip at all in the heal when you walk. A&A shoes will stretch and form to the shape of your feet within about 5-8 hours of wearing them. They should become one of the most comfortable pairs of shoes you own.
When converting to men’s sizes from women’s go down 1.5 sizes. For example, a women’s size 8.5 is roughly equivalent to a men’s size 7. Keep in mind that men’s shoes run slightly wider than women’s.
We do our best to make our product descriptions as accurate as possible, but we does not warrant that our product descriptions (or that the colors of the products as they appear on your monitor) are accurate, reliable, free of distortion, or without error. If you receive a product that you believe is not as described, you can return the product for an exchange or refund within 90 days of the date of purchase. Refunds are applicable to unworn products only.
A&As should be washed by hand in cold water with a gentle detergent and letting them air dry. We do not recommend putting A&As in the dryer under any circumstances. Color will fade over time with washing but they look pretty cool and does not compromise the durability of the shoe.
We use pig suede for all leather insole styles of A&A shoes.
